Great travels

Not great in winter
Although I had a great time in New Zealand I cannot attribute it to the kiwi bus. When I booked I was straight away put on the wait list and at the time I did not know this was because in winter the buses only run every 5 days. This means if you are doing limited time or even have a week or two more you cannot stay places for extra nights. This wouldn’t be a massive problem if they had told me about it but I only found out through my bus driver whilst on the bus. I did have a great time but because the buses didn’t run very often I didn’t get very long in places like Wellington (the capital) and we got dropped off at 6pm and left at 7am the next day giving us only a night their. Overall great experience of New Zealand and a average experience on the kiwi bus. This is also a VERY expensive way to travel New Zealand. Driver was great.

Plenty to see, good drivers!
Was on the kiwi bus for a month and had a great time. You can cover a lot of ground in a short space of time, whilst also having the option of staying as long as you want at different stops if you have the time. Ideally would like to see more buses in the winter however. Obviously the demand is lower during certain times of the year, but sometimes was a case of staying somewhere for 1 night or 5 due to bus timetables. Special shoutout to Dylan who was the funniest driver ever and was full of knowledge. Overall great experience.

Good way to travel around New Zealand
Really great way to explore New Zealand and meet people along the way. Only downside was when I travelled only three buses a week ran, meaning we had to spend a night in most places and three or four nights in a few. This was clearly not as flexible as kiwi experience suggested and caused our plans to change. I travelled In April/may which is deemed as off season, however because of the lack of buses, most of my buses were full and there were big waiting lists. My travelling partner and I did not dare hop of our bus for fear we would not be able to get on another bus for 3 or 4 days.

Once in a lifetime experience
I had the best time travelling South Island of NZ with kiwi experience. It made solo travel such a fun time and I made some amazing friends whilst seeing just a snippet of this amazing country. I only regret I didn't do the whole place!
