Good but please stop using Base & Nomads!!
Great way to meet people. However it runs to a very strict itinerary each day which isn't for everyone. Also the Kiwi Experience uses Base/Nomads as its preferred hostel in all the towns/cities - they are TERRIBLE and halfway through my trip I decided to book my own hostels instead as I couldn't bear to stay in them any more.

Amazing way to travel
Even if it's look expensive, kiwi ex is an amazing way to travel. Perfect if you're alone and you want to meet people in the same mind. Drivers are crazy they share their knowledge all around the way. They help you and make sur you enjoy your trip. Kiwi ex is a lot more than just a bus !!

Good
The kiwi experience is a great thing to do, however I found i was essentially paying for a bus service. There are massive perks; such as the guaranteed accommodation and discounted activities, however it was a massive fee for a bus service. The people we met was amazing and it offers a great service in that regard. I do understand New Zealand is an expensive place and Kiwi Ex does a good job to limit that, but it is still expensive. I would recommend it to many friends but would emphasise the money needed.

Want to see it all?
Me and my wife have been travelling around, both on North and South islands for five and a half weeks. We have had a wonderful time, and going by campervan give a very good chance to see a big number of great places.

Smooth sailing!
Such a good experience! The whole trip has been really easy to plan and adapt to what suited me best. The guaranteed accommodation took some of the strain off travelling. I loved all the little stops off along the way!

Good experience
I bought the ticket after being recommended it. I met some amazing people and the majority of the drivers were cool. However, for the money you pay, the value isn't the greatest.

Our Kiwi Holiday
We hired a motorhome for the freedom it gives us to stop whereever we choose for meals and sleep. The vehicle was lovely to drive and had plenty of power, was easy to park and was very economical. It was fitted out with everything we needed for our week visit. From your website I was under the impression that there was enough room in the camper. From our first night however, we realised that the mattress and plastic spring system in the van was totally inadequate for us. The metal bars under the mattress was also totally uncomfortable. The thin mattress made it impossible to sleep. It was made a lot better by pulling the mattress down from the top bed and using it as well. We also found that the lack of overhead cupboards made it dfficult to access any clothes and provisions. Having to lift the lid to the side cupboards to lift the back seats to access the only space for our clothes was irritating to say the least. Your website did not show any photos of the inside of the van so we were unable to judge for ourselves what was inside. The internet we paid for was very difficult to access, and I don't think we got to use much of it at all. It would have been good to have a fly screen on the only ventilation window when stopped overnight.

New Zealand at it's best
I was genuinely impressed by how well the bus system works. Everything went smoothly, administration was easy - and with that taken care of, I could just sit back, relax, and enjoy the beauty of New Zealand. A great trip so far!

A Great Way to Discover New Zealand...
All the passes and add-ons available offer some wonderful ways to discover New Zealand. The buses are comfortable, secure and some even have USB charging ports and free Wifi. The drivers are so passionate about their country and give your great insights into history and culture as they go. They are very approachable. An easy and fantastic way to get around, especially if you are travelling independently.
