Trip of a lifetime!

I was told by new friends I met in Australia that their tour with Kiwi Experience was excellent. I was planning on a trip to New Zealand anyways so I booked a trip with Kiwi Experience days before I arrived in Auckland. Best decision ever. I was able to explore both islands with additional stops that I never would have been able to do on my own in a caravan. Especially at the great price I booked my trip for. I am in my forties and was slightly apprehensive about traveling with a younger crowd but instead made fantastic new friends and created memories that I’ll share for a lifetime! Epic adventures! Our driver Luke was absolutely a fantastic addition to our travels. Very kind, informative, patient guide. Total Rockstar! Thank you again and again! I will recommend these tours to everyone!

Best Time Ever!!

Being on the kiwi bus was an extremely spontaneous trip which turned out to be the best experience ever and I truly had the best time of my life!! You literally don't have to worry about a thing if that's what you want, cause the amazing driver guides will organize everything for you. I had a month time to spent in beautiful NZ and chose the North and South Island including Milford Sound. The first week I stayed with the bus the minimum time and so did most of the travelers. I was really nervous about my trip beforehand as I traveled solo. But honestly most Kiwi travelers are which makes it so easy to get to know people. The "speed dating" right at the beginning of the bus tour was a real ice breaker plus the first couple of nights are even more private accommodation, where you'll basically just stay with the whole lot. Therefor by the time we were in Wellington we were such a close knit group and kind of a big family. I never imagine making lifelong friends so easily. In Queenstown you usually catch up with almost everyone you met on the journey as everyone stays a little longer in the capital of adventure which I really loved. Also to me it was a good relief staying in one place a little longer and not have to pack again every day. My tip for the best time you can possibly have: Save up a little bit more money for this once in a lifetime trip and do all the amazing activities. Embrace every opportunity you get along the way to push yourself a little more outside your comfort zone and enjoy the journey. It is soo worth it and all your memories and friends will last a lifetime!

Sweet as!

I really enjoyed my time on the Kiwi Experience. It’s a great way to meet other people to enjoy the trip with. The driver guides are very knowledgeable of each place, particularly Scotty aka Nancy Boy, who provided hilarious commentary each day! My only criticism would be that some of the stops between places seemed to be for the sake of it so that we didn’t get to the next place too early to check in. Other than that, I had great fun! My favourite activities were - Franz Josef helihike, Nevis Swing, Tongariro Crossing hike, white water rafting (River Valley) and last but not least, Black Labyrinth caving tour.

Awesome trip

We thought that the motor home itself was fantastic, would not change a thing. Had great features and really made for a comfortable trip. Unfortunately we did not find the customer service that great. As this was our first time in the country, it would have made a huge difference to have a bright, welcoming representative when we arrive, instead we did not have a very enthusiastic person. When we booked online we believed that we had paid for our campervan and would not need to be purchasing anything further on arrive, however this was not the case. We had budgeted for our holiday only to be told that we needed to pay a tax on fuel, as well as further insurances. Whilst we understood why we needed to pay these things, we would have appreciated knowing when we first booked our motor home online. The website does not clearly disclose these details, and forking out another $400 upon arrival in Christchurch was a let down. Overall we loved our trip and had a fantastic holiday

There must be a better way!

Read the T&C's! We weren't ready for the $7500 deposit and they wouldn't accept the rental insurance we had. EVERYTHING is designed to extract your money: need a plaster? You pay. Road user charges? Add them to your bill...and keep going. This despite the vehicle being mechanically challenged and suffering maintenance problems such as flying crockery drawers. Customer service lukewarm. Britz is a very non-Kiwi business philosophy. Don't forget to allow for staying in campgrounds in addition to your costs either. Hire a nice car and stay in motels so you can relax behind the wheel and enjoy the roads.

Two months are not enough. We will come back.

Do your research.

Great experience! I didn't do my research to figure out how much the costs would be once you pay for hostels, food and a decent amount of activities. You can expect to pay around £1,500 if you're going from to the Auckland to Queenstown. It was definitely worth it I just wish I budgeted for it first.

Incredible Adventure!

I decided to travel in New Zealand with "Mighty Moa" pass with KIWI bus two months ago, thanks to my friend who recomended me KIWI. In 4 weeks together with my friend we were able to see some most beautiful spots in both islands. This holidays were incredible adventure which I will never forget.
