Ok Experience

Me and my travel partner went with the KEA bus pass. Overall the travel was ok. Most of the people we travled with on the bus were great and we got to see alot of the places we wanted to wisit in NZ. But there was a couple of things we didn't like as much. The personal that we booked our seats on the bus with got our bookings wrong 6 times during the 3 weeks we travled with them. In the end we started to call the office an extra time every time we changed our plans, to double check that we had seats on the right bus. The buses was almost always full, so if the bookings were wrong we couldn't travel the day we wanted. It was especally hard to get the bookings right if you stayed an extra night or more in the same place. Not all, but a couple of the drivers were also not that good at telling us about the plans for the day. Like the plans around lunch, stops and accomodation. For exempel: some of the times we didn't understand wich stop was the "lunch stop" or that we had to buy the lunch the day before. Some of the drivers were really good guides snd talked about different interesting things, but some of them talked alot about the same thing or didn't talk much at all. Partying was also something that they focused alot on, wich ofcourse can be fun but not at every stop. Most of the people on the bus were 18-22 years old, so you can stand out a bit if you are older. I also think some of the activities that we booked through Kiwi E wasn't as authentic as I had hoped, they were only for turist. But we still had a pretty good time with Kiwi E. We will never forget our travel in NZ or the friends we got here!

Worth Every Moment

As a solo traveller beginning in New Zealand, I couldn't have asked for a better way to start my travels. Kiwi Experience made it all so easy from start to finish, giving me the chance to do, see and experience things I never would have on my own. The drivers that I met were all New Zealanders who take real pride in getting to show you the beautiful country that they grew up in. Sam was my main driver and you could tell he was more than happy to tell us stories about different areas that he knew from growing up in them as we were driving through. It made the trip feel more personalised. He was very informative about the activities, the places we would be staying in and about the places we were going in general. If you are hesitant at all about purchasing a Kiwi Experience pass, I would say do it! You will see the fabulous New Zealand in a way that you can't imagine and the memories that come with it are incredible. Me personally, I have made friends for life, I have memories of things I've done and sights I've seen through the bus that photos just can't do justice to and I'm already trying to make plans to come back and experience even more with Kiwi Experience.

Awesome!

Travelled with kiwi experience for a month and had the most awesome time! Driver guides really make it - it's so sociable and you feel like you've known everyone forever in just a few days. The whole process is so easy and there's nothing to worry about except where you're gonna buy your beer!

Best gap year experience so far

I was unsure about what kiwi experience was going to be like but after I got onto the bus in Auckland, heading for Paihia. ..I didn't look back! My travelling partner and I met sooo many nice people(from England) and from all over the world on this one bus - quite a nice though. It is a must for anyone coming to New Zealand. Your bus driver shares their knowledge of NZ and you see so many little things that you would simply drive past If you were I'm your own car. Great experience all round! (And you get some good discounts on activities!!!!)

Awesome!

Got a lot of new friends on the bus. Saw the best parts of the beautiful New Zealand even if I hadn't a lot of time. Scotty, the busdriver was great and helped with everything! Lots of love to kiwi experience, the only bad thing was all the waiting at overprized cafes sometimes when we had our lunchstops.

This trip with Kiwi experience have been amazing! I come back home just a few days ago and I can't stop thinking about this trip. You always feel so welcomed from everybody on the bus and in general in the country too. It's a lots of fun things you can do here who are unforgetteble. You make a lots of new friends who you are going to meet after this trip. You are going to feel blessed when you come back home to your home country when you have been on kiwi experience. It's a awesome trip!

Southern Round Up

I did have a great experience with Kiwi but I do feel there are a few improvements that could be made. Although it is sold as a 'hop on, hop off' trip, this is not always as straight forward as it sounds. I understand that I was travelling during peak times, but the process for arranging different buses was not always straightforward. Having to set aside time in the day to call the office, not knowing how long this would take can be difficult to factor in. Some days you may be on a bus all day or doing an activity that takes all day. The other alternative is prebooking all your buses in advance which isn't explained until you actually start the trip. But with that is not knowing if you will like/dislike certain towns and want to lengthen or shorten a stay. An app where you could see how full buses were a few days in advance would really help a traveller to use their time most effectively. I dislike that the majority of the accommodations that Kiwi used did not publicise their rates at check- in. You can look up this info on their websites but you don't know how much they are going to charge you until you get there, sometimes the drivers were not even sure of this information. A couple of dollers here and there is not a big deal but as I was travelling with someone, it would be useful to know the difference in price between two dorm beds and a private room.
